Zimbabwe is home to a variety of monkey species

including:

  • Vervet Monkeys
  • Chacma Baboons
  • Samango Monkeys
  • Yellow Baboons
  • Blue Monkeys

The fastest species of monkey in Zimbabwe is the Vervet Monkey. They are capable of reaching speeds of up to 37 miles per hour (60 km/h) when running through the forest canopy or on the ground. Vervet Monkeys are known for their agility and speed, which helps them escape from predators. They are also very social animals and live in large groups, which provides them with a degree of safety in numbers.

Many different animals eat monkeys, including:

    • Large birds of prey, such as eagles and hawks
    • Snakes, such as pythons and boas
    • Big cats, such as leopards and jaguars
    • Other primates, such as chimpanzees and gorillas
    • Some species of reptiles, such as crocodiles and alligators

The predators of monkeys will vary depending on the species and location of the monkeys. In some cases, monkeys have been known to escape predators by climbing trees or by using their agility to dodge attacks.

Monkeys are omnivores and their diet can vary depending on the species and their habitat. Generally, they feed on a combination of fruits, nuts, seeds, flowers, leaves, insects, and small animals such as, birds, and small mammals. Some species of monkeys, such as baboons, also eat meat and occasionally hunt other animals. The exact diet of a monkey depends on factors such as their environment, their size, and their social structure.
